Nairobi is a growing city and new apartments are popping up all over. On both sides of the compound we live on new complexes have been built. To one side they are putting on the finishing touches and realized they needed an extra water tank in the back. Unfortunately, they could not get it through the narrow walkway behind the building and the fence They had to come up with a way to lift it around the covered porches, pushing against the electric fence at times. This was unfortunate but does show the inventiveness when needed is a valuable skill set most have here in Nairobi.

To give you a better insight, the wall that one gentleman is standing on is about 8 feet high.

Here is traffic that we had to deal with in Malindi.

Driving into town Monday night we were greeted by Nairobi traffic.

Beautiful Kenya

Though I have not seen very much of the world, I feel confident in saying that Kenya is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Here is just a quick picture we took along our drive back to town for you to enjoy. We went from the coast, through mountains and amazing plains in a matter of a few hours!

Trip to Malindi

Our kids are such great flyers! Here is a pic from our quick flight to join Baba. Avery made Larson laugh with a puppet show, thanks to the air sick bag.

Thankfully both kids LOVED the water. We had a large and small pool at the gorgeous home we stayed in. There was access to the beach a five-minute walk away. It was such a treat to have great weather all week and enjoyed all the time outside.

Happy Belated Mother’s Day

Spending the sunny day with the kiddos in the pool was a great Mother’s day. Even as Taylor, due to malaria, was in bed and kind of loopy he arranged for the caretaker of the home we were staying at to make flower arrangements all over the house. Here is a picture of one of them. What a great guy!
A side note- I love that these flowers come from plants that are typically used for security on walls due to its large thorns. Functional and beautiful!

I love the mix of this city. So much has become normal that it is sometimes hard to remember that it might be something out of the ordinary for our normal reader. While driving down the street outside our home we saw this mama showing off her amazing balance and neck strength! We also had many brand new luxury cars coming (from the opposite direction) into our lane to avoid a push cart hauling rocks that was moving too slow in their lane.

Little Scholar

Avery starts school tomorrow at Little Scholars! She is so very excited as her best friends attend this school. She begged to try on her uniform tonight and I couldn’t help but share a pic of her cuteness.
A HUGE thank you to the family that made it possible for Avery to go to school! We are thrilled at this opportunity for our little scholar and can’t wait to hear her stories about her days at school.

On a recent trip to the supermarket Avery asked for a milk box. She wanted to pick out the flavor and decided upon this yummy new one, bubble gum?!? She was very excited but could only take a few sips before she told me that was enough. Anyone want us to ship you some to try?

Thankful Thursday

We are very thankful to be living in a home with running water. Sometimes our water looks more like tea and we are thankful to have a water filter. Even more importantly we are thankful to have direct access to the living water, Christ our Lord. We hope you are enjoying this season of Lent and pray you have a wonderful Easter remembering our rising Savior!

If you look close you can see branches in the grill of the passing matatus, minibuses. Each Palm Sunday I have seen these and finally got a picture to share. Love such a visible reminder of the start to holy week.
