It turns out the same man carried out the shooting in Denver at the YWAM office and in Colorado Springs at New Life Church. YWAM has an office in that church. The young man worked with YWAM a few years ago and had a falling out. Please continue to be in prayer for the families involved in both incidents. The young man was killed at the church by their security.
One of my favorite shows growing up was Animaniacs. I was a bit old for it, but I enjoyed the humor. The following video is a classic. Many of you may have seen it. If you’re unsure of where Sudan is or any other African county, you can always ask Yakko.
A British woman living in Khartoum, Sudan was recently put in jail for blasphemy because she named a stuffed bear Mohammed. Click here to view the story. In the Muslim faith, any image of Mohammed is blasphemy. She made the bear an image of Mohammed by naming it after him.
She took suggestions from the class and ended up naming it after a boy. So now I’m wondering, since the boy’s name is Mohammed, would he be destroyed? If you have any thoughts about this, I’d love to hear them.
We continue to add photos to Flickr every day. Have a look at some recent additions. We will continue to add more over the coming week. Be on the lookout for our first video in the next week.
I (Taylor) wanted to share with you about some recent developments within SIM USA in regards to media in Sudan. There has been a recent push by a department that specifically reaches out to large donors. They are taking a trip themselves to Sudan in a week to film many of the projects going on and interview both people doing the projects and those being impacted by the projects. Most of the projects in Sudan directly serve the physical needs of some very war hardened Sudanese. The goal is to empower them so that they can be self sustaining. Through doing these various projects, we hope to impact the people personally and gain their trust so that Christ’s love will be evident and opens the door for salvation and all that comes with becoming a Christ follower.
All of that to say, there is a large push to create a lot of media for Sudan to share with donors. As many of you know, Sudan is in the world’s spotlight right now, not just by the US. We hope that these new methods of communication cannot only be used in and by the US office, but other SIM offices around the world to highlight the needs in Sudan and get more people involved around the world in the work Christ body is beginning. The encouragement comes in that many more people are getting involved in Sudan through the use of media and even before I’m officially “active” with SIM, I am being invited to take part in work already being done there. There is a chance that even before I go active, I will be helping post production (editing) on a lot of the video which will be acquired this summer.
Please pray for much of the ground work being done right now for the projects SIM has envisioned. It is only through your prayers, your financial donations and God’s favor that makes these thing happen.
I just wanted to share a web site I came accross today. These guys started this search engine that makes money for non-profit projects overseas like feeding children, digging wells, education, etc.
All you have to do is use their web site for your seaches, and they donate 100% of the advertising money to these projects. Pretty cool! Click the image to visit the site.
