It’s Not Easy Being Cheesy
Taylor
I’m wippin’ out another quote just for you from the American classic Cheetos.
So on to the real topic at hand. As most of you know we’re in the midst of applying for a VISA to Khartoum (hard ‘k’). In general, westerners are not invited in very often. We have an open door through the church to get us in and we’re hoping that will happen. If it doesn’t then we’ll be off to S. Sudan a little sooner.
On that note, I’ve been told that Khartoum, like the rest of Sudan, is expensive. We’ll be living in dormitory style living with shared bathrooms, etc. A family in a single little room. It’s cool! I can dig it. Now for the expensive part. I was looking around some blogs today and found a guy talking about Khartoum and it’s new hotel. He also included some notes about how much regular goods cost…
Cost of living is really high in Khartoum even though it’s a third world country.
Example (2 Sudanese Pound = US$1.00):-
* five pieces of hot dog bread – US$0.75
* minced beef of 400g – US$3.28
* few small tomatoes – US$1.40
* processed chicken fillets – US$16.00
* two dozens of eggs – US$6.50
