Sudan Plane Hijacking Resolved

Yesterday a 737 took off from South Darfur (Southwest Sudan), headed for Khartoum. After the mid-air hijacking, the plane was diverted to an old WWII British airbase in a remote area of Lybia (just bordering Sudan & Egypt). They demanded refueling so that they could make it to Paris, France. The Sudan gov’t has said the hijackers were Darfur rebels, which has been denied by everyone else.

After many hours, the hijackers released the passengers, keeping the flight staff. Fuel was being refused (it might not have even been available at that airstrip). Recently the hijackers have given up. It’s feared that some may have escaped detection, blending in with the passengers when they were released.

News and info is very slow to come out due to the very remote location of the airstrip.

It’s Official – Moving Forward in Faith

After working some numbers and talking with the great home office staff with SIM, we have decided to name October 1 as our going fully active date! We have been waiting a long time for this and it seems so close now having an actual date. As you can see from our previous post, we are still short on our support and need to finish out and reach 100% by October 1. So we have made this step in faith. Will you support us so that we can be 100% on October 1?

An update on our timeline:

    – September 15 – Move out of our house & into parent’s house temporarily
    – Sept 20 – sell everything (cars, bed, paintings, it all goes)
    – Sept 27 – head to Charlotte for media orientation
    – Oct 30 – head home to Dallas
    – Early Nov – make trips for good byes
    – 2nd Week of Nov – Move family to Kenya
    – One month of orientation in Kenya
    – Life & ministry begins in Sudan

Update On Our Finances

I really enjoyed our second dessert event. My father reminded me that it was likely because the week leading up to it was significantly easier than the week before.
I’m so happy to announce to you all that we had a significant boost in our support with more people requesting to speak to use about possible support. We enjoyed seeing many of you at the desserts. As we follow up with everyone and have a few more meetings with potential donors, we hope that this will finish out our support as we only need a few hundred dollars before we reach 100%.

ALMOST 100%

What we still need:
1. Around $300 in monthly support (plus pledged support).
2. Prayer! Lots of it.
3. Have you made a pledged gift? Please start that giving now.

Being High Tech in a Low Tech World

I just saw this GE commercial while watching the olympics tonight. Sometimes I feel like this doctor. I pack up all my tech/media gear and go to a very remote area to use it.
