When Cultural Stereotypes Go Bad

May 29th, 2008 by Taylor

Our favorite donut shop, okay… 2nd favorite, Dunkin Donuts had to pull a recently released web ad featuring Rachael Ray because she was wearing a scarf similar to the black and white checkered scarfs worn in the middle east. You may remember the one that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat wore. A conservative political blogger has called the ad by DD ‘symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism.’

This is akin to saying that an ad in China with a man wearing Levi jeans is the same as supporting the US war in Iraq. Gimmie a break!

Read about it at CNN.com.

Seems people just like to complain and make other’s lives painful just to make them feel better about themselves more than I thought. Ridiculous -I have seen that exact scarf on a dozen other famous people on websites over the last 4 months.
