Robots Go Wild!

So today I was helping a guy video some events. I went back to get some b-roll as they were going to demo a ‘bot’ crushing some boxes. Well, just as soon as it got started, the bot went wild. Click the image below to see the video I captured…

White African?

I finally arrived in Austin today and had the great opportunity to meet a guy who maintains a few blogs relating to technology & Africa. He really poured into me as I gleaned a lot of wisdom from him, both from a technology in Africa perspective, as well as a white man growing up in Africa. His parents were with Wycliffe. He told me that during his time in Sudan (during the war) the only other people in the country were with SIM. We talked about his growing up in boarding school in Kenya at RVA (Rift Valley Academy). Allison and I know a few people who attended college with us at JBU who grew up attending RVA.

Click the image above to see his tech blog. He also has a few other blogs. One is about African technology. Making toys from trash, creating welding mashines from scrap… just amazing stuff. Check that out at afrigadget.com. The hotest thing he has right now is a web site dedicated to highlighting incidents of attacks in Kenya. As you may know the country was going through some rough times. In 48 hours, he and some friends threw this site together and it’s created a lot of talk around the world. They plan to flush it out and create something for the whole world. So wherever the next hotspot is for violence, people can post stuff on his site to report those incidence. Check it out, click the image below.

Off to Austin

Taylor will be headed to Austin this weekend and will stay through next weekend. During this time he will be meeting with other Christian creatives who have lived and worked overseas in missions environments. He will also be helping a Christian Arts Pastor create some videos for a conference coming up in a few weeks. Lastly, he will have the opportunity to meet some of our future Sudan team members, potentially our future leadership, and share with others about the work we’ll be doing in Sudan.

Please be in prayer as Taylor will be interfacing with potential prayer and financial partnerships.

If you’re in Austin and would like to meet Taylor while he’s in town, please email him at taylor.martyn@sim.org.
