Please vote on what you think the new header should be. These are all from photos I took while we were in Sudan. Email me the one you like the best @ taylor.martyn@sim.org (click here)
By now you might have received a letter updating you on all that has happened with us this summer. We specifically hit on the Sudan trip. If you have not received it, feel free to download the PDF and read the newsletter. We’ll be getting out another letter shortly to discuss our future and inform you how you can get involved in God’s work in Sudan.
About two weeks ago I bumped into two women at a local coffee shop discussing a misison trip to Kenya. One had visited last year, the other (a member at Highland Park Presbyterian Church) was leaving shortly. I had just returned from Sudan/Kenya and talked with them for a short bit. I was shocked today when I read Dallas News online about that same group getting attacked. Click the image below to read more about what happened.
We continue to add photos to Flickr every day. Have a look at some recent additions. We will continue to add more over the coming week. Be on the lookout for our first video in the next week.
Our pastor’s conference on Church Planting & Discipleship was on a Monday through Friday. Thursday afternoon the pastors came together and decided they wanted to make a list of things they could do to unite the local and universal church. I was out at the time seeing some other parts of Malakal. When I returned to the conference and found out what was going on, I knew in an instant that this was the fruit of our conference. Unity is a huge issue for the evangelical church in South Sudan and most of our topics tended to veer in this direction.
I want to share with you the list of things they created on their own. Right click here to download the PDF.
I saw an article today on BBC’s web site discussing how Nile Tilapia fight malaria mosquitoes. Apparently they eat the main larva in the water most likely to carry malaria.
On our trip to Sudan, we ate a lot of fish. It’s fresh as fish can get and the way they cook it is just awesome. Curious to know more? Take a look at the bbc.com article. You can also read up more on malaria at WHO.int, Wikipedia, and the CDC.gov.
As most of you know Allison is pregnant. We just found out that we’ll be having a baby girl. Allison’s favorite color has always been baby blue. So please don’t send any pink paint, clothes, bottles, shoes, diapers, etc I think we’ll be doing a pale yellow/green thing. But be sure we’ll be putting in a pink bow occationally when we get tired of people asking about ‘him.’ Anyways, here’s a sonogram photo to look over!
