Did you know that last year there were 8.3 million refugees (displaced persons due to war, political or religious persecution) in the world (a 30 year low). Of that, only 83,000 get resettled in countries that offer to accept them, 53,000 to the US.
For those of you who live in the Dallas area, we wanted to share with you an incredible opportunitiy right in our city. We have the chance to befriend a refugee family new to the U.S. and get the chance to learn about their own rich culture.
Saturday morning we went to a training offered by Catholic Charities for those interested in volunteering with resettlement of refugee families that come to Dallas. This was part of a training for a program at our church, Fellowship Bible of Dallas. If you would like to learn more about this or have a small group that might be interested in adopting a family please contact us for more information.

I wanted to give everyone an update as to how far we’ve come along with our finances in the last month. We have been able to pay off our SIMCO costs from last November. We have just paid the bill for our language training coming up in June. Our expenses for the summer’s trip to Sudan is about half way there, which leaves us about $5000 left to raise. We’ve been so very blessed by your prayers and your financial support. We have a long way to go for our other financial needs for specific items we need to purchase as well as our costs for transportation to the field.
We hear from SIM every 30 days as to the previous month’s donation. Please know that we appreciate your donations and look forward to ministering with you.

Allison and I have just sent our second letter out. Our first letter addressed our financial and prayer needs that are coming up very soon for this summer (language traning in June and our trip to Sudan in July). This second letter addresses many of the questions people have been asking about starting their monthly support right now. We thank you all so much for your desire and your involvement in our ministry. As our ministry team (you) continues to grow, it will be such a blessing to see how God uses us together for his purpose.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email or call us using the contact info in the right sidebar.
If you are yourself considering giving financially, please visit our Financial Support page. There it will describe our various needs and the different ways you can give online or download our donor card to mail in.

I just wanted to share a web site I came accross today. These guys started this search engine that makes money for non-profit projects overseas like feeding children, digging wells, education, etc.
All you have to do is use their web site for your seaches, and they donate 100% of the advertising money to these projects. Pretty cool! Click the image to visit the site.

You might have received an email recently from me that looked very similar to my web site. It was an eNewsletter by a service I’m using with Constant Contact. If you did not receive it, please sign up for it with the box to the right. Over time, this will save us a lot of funds and can be used more directly in our ministry on the field. We spend $100-200 dollars every time we send a mailing. So you can imagine how much that could save us over a year.
Monday we will send out our second letter. Our first letter focused on recoonecting with everyone and explaining our prayer and financial needs coming this summer. This letter will focus on explaining our long term needs and reach out to those who would like to contribute on a monthly or annual basis, long term.
We look forward to ministering together with you!
Please pray about how God might have you involved in our ministry and pray for others as they consider their involvement as well.

As you might have noticed I have added a little widget to the side bar for photos. Occationally I will be adding photos I have shot. Just click on one of the images to view it and see other photos. Once I come back from our trip this summer, you will get to see many photos from Sudan. The people, the places, the food, the culture, the family, the religion, the politics and so much more.
